led by Christy Morris-Newman
PN, CDP-CADDCT, PAC, CLTC-CLPN, IP-BC
Christy is a Certified Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care trainer and a Board-Certified Long-Term Care Licensed Practical Nurse. She has trained directly under Teepa Snow.
Historically, dementia care focused more on the needs of the caregiver rather than the patient. Today, the approach has shifted to engage elders in their current reality to prevent agitation and confusion. This person-centered approach involves caregivers joining residents in their perceived reality. This reduces challenging behaviors and enhances the caregiving experience.
This training will give you the tools needed to guide and coach patients with dementia into living their best lives.
This course will meet the requirements for the Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification. This certification is in addition to the CEU’s offered by attending the course itself. The attendee will be given a certificate of completion that can be used to register with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners online portal (optional). Once this application is completed by the attendee, and a $40 fee is paid (not included in registration fee), the attendee will be issued the official title “Certified Dementia Practitioner” upon approval by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners.
